Synopsis

A lively melting pot of local and international cultures, what is the Singapore way of life? What practices and customs do Singaporeans hold on to that connect us with our roots and how do they continue to express our unique values and beliefs in the modern world? Through this webinar, students will:
• Gain a broad understanding of the diverse cultural heritage, including languages, ethnic groups and religion, principles, festivals and food that makes Singapore unique.
• Explore cultural practices and traditions, and its relevance in contemporary Singapore.

Ms Daryl Tan

Professional Qualifications:
Bachelor of Arts Hons in Arts Management, LASALLE College of the Arts-Goldsmiths University of London, UK. Master of Arts in Arts and Heritage: Policy, Management and Education, Maastricht University, The Netherlands.
Profile/Areas of Interest:
Ms Daryl Tan is a Lecturer in Arts Business Management in Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Singapore. Modules she has taught include Introduction to Visual Arts, Introduction to Dance, and Education, Outreach and Community Arts. Her experience spans across the diverse arts and heritage sectors, including working in and with museums and as an arts marketer at T.H.E Dance Company and STPI Creative Workshop & Gallery in Singapore. She has also conducted research on cultural and economic policy in Maastricht, The Netherlands and Singapore during her graduate studies.
